El Zopilote

El Zopilote is a unique backpacker hostel and permaculture farm rolled into one, located on the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua, nestled in the jungle-covered slopes of the Maderas volcano. It's about 30 kilometers from the port town of Moyogalpa, between Santa Cruz and Balgue.

We offer a range of accommodation, including private rooms, dormitories, camping spots, and hammocks. All rooms are simple yet cozy, with shared compost toilets and shared showers. Every bed comes with a mosquito net.

Guests can enjoy our on-site farm-to-table restaurant, which serves affordable dishes made with fresh ingredients straight from the garden, open throughout the day. There's also a pizzeria open every Tuesday and Saturday night from 6 PM, featuring fire shows, dancing, natural cocktails, and plenty of fun. Free WiFi is available in the restaurant area.

We organize a variety of activities, such as free yoga sessions, permaculture courses, cacao ceremonies, volcano tours, massages, workshops, and many more events.

Please bring a flashlight for nighttime—while all huts have lights, the connecting pathways are kept dim to preserve the natural habitat.
