Nestled right in the middle of the forest, this family-run hotel is the ideal retreat for those seeking tranquility and for nature enthusiasts.

The on-site restaurant serves fine Thuringian cuisine using regional, seasonal ingredients Monday to Saturday from 4:00 PM, and on Sundays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. When the weather cooperates, guests can choose between dining on the outdoor terrace or inside the restaurant.

Among the 40 rooms, 30 have been renovated in a New Style as of 2022, featuring modern, high-tech furnishings complemented by premium natural materials. The remaining 10 rooms are Old School–cozy, rustic, and simply furnished with warm wood accents, perfect for those who prefer a simpler stay. Due to the flooring, pets are welcome in the Old School rooms, but must be registered in advance. All rooms include a bathroom with shower and toilet, a TV, and either a king or queen bed. Each room offers a forest view and comes with insect screens on the windows.

Each morning, guests can enjoy a generous breakfast buffet with a wide variety of options and homemade jams. On nice days, breakfast can be taken out on the terrace.

The surrounding landscape is perfect for hiking and cycling. The Brotterode Wasserfall toboggan run and the Trusetaler waterfall—Thuringia’s highest natural waterfall—are just 25 km away. Additionally, the famous Rennsteig hiking trail is only 5 km from the Waldhotel.
