Depart from Cusco, beginning your exploration at the historic Guadalupe Lodge. After arriving, enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive along the Manu Road. You'll pass by picturesque villages and serene landscapes, stopping for guided visits at the Ninamarca Pre-Incan Burial site and the bustling local market in Paucartambo Village. Your knowledgeable guides will take you on walking tours, exploring hidden oxbow lakes, clay licks, and the iconic Manu National Park boundary. Marvel at the diverse wildlife, including monkeys, cock-of-the-rock, quetzals, and mountain toucans as you traverse the cloud forest.
On Day 1, continue your journey to the enchanting Guadalupe Lodge, where you'll spend the night. Take advantage of early-morning excursions to explore the nearby canyon and caves, where you might encounter bats, spiders, and scorpions. Embark on a boat trip down the Alto Madre de Dios River, followed by a guided walk through the lush riverine forest. Look out for monkeys, caymans, and various bird species as you navigate the channels of the Machuhuasi Lagoon. Venture further to discover the Giant Kapok Tree and its surrounding forests, searching for other intriguing fauna like monkeys and caymans.
On Day 2, wake up to another day filled with discovery. Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the Guadalupe Lodge before boarding a motorboat to explore the Upper Madre de Dios River. Walk alongside the riverine forest to spot monkeys, caymans, and avian life. Explore the Machuhuasi Lagoon channels for aquatic birds, monkeys, and caymans. As the sun sets, set off on a boat drive to the Atalaya Wildlife Rescue Center, offering a unique opportunity to learn more about conservation efforts in the region. Enjoy dinner at the lodge, followed by a farewell stroll around the grounds.
Day 3 begins with a final exploration of the Guadalupe Lodge garden, learning about the medicinal plants such as coca leaves, cacao, bamboo water, annatto, and others. Prepare for your departure, enjoying a leisurely drive back to Cusco. Travel through the cloud forest, waterfalls, and wildlife-rich areas.
