Sao Miguel, Caldeiroes Canyoning Experience

Embark on a canyoning expedition from São Miguel to Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeirões. Engage in thrilling rappels, leaps, and cascades through the rugged terrain of this spectacular natural wonder.

Our excursion commences at Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeirões, an exceptional park located in the northeastern region of the island of São Miguel, approximately 45 minutes away from Ponta Delgada. Upon arrival, participants will receive their personal equipment and commence a brief safety briefing prior to embarking on a 15-minute walk towards the first checkpoint. Here, additional safety instructions will be given regarding the use of ropes and harnesses.

Following this, we will undertake a short ascent up a hill, during which we will halt once more for a detailed safety explanation. At this juncture, participants will learn how to perform rappelling techniques. Proceeding further, we will ascend another ten minutes until reaching the beginning of the canyon. Once inside the canyon, guests may anticipate multiple jump activities ranging between two and seven meters in height, as well as a natural slide and various abseiling maneuvers varying in height from five to fifteen meters.

Upon exiting the canyon, we shall return to our departure point via the original trail. It's important to note that the specific sequence of activities and the level of difficulty may vary depending on seasonal changes and environmental factors. Additionally, if any participant feels uncomfortable or unprepared for certain challenges, alternative routes or modifications will be available.
