This once thriving Roman settlement, obliterated by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, has re-emerged into the annals of history during the 18th century due to expeditions led by the Bourbons. Throughout the centuries, the whereabouts of this ancient Roman metropolis had been forgotten; however, it wasn't until 1710 that a local farmer named Ambrogio Nucerino unearthed numerous precious marble fragments while attempting to water his crops. These discoveries ultimately revealed the existence of an ancient theater from the Roman era.
In preparation for your visit, our dedicated team will communicate with you through WhatsApp or email approximately one day prior to your scheduled tour.
