You will discover the wonders of Asinara Island on board a comfortable Mercedes Vitò Hybrid minivan together with expert local guides, exclusive to the Park, who will be able to tell you all the curiosities and anecdotes related to the history of this island.The trip includes several stops to observe the landscape and take unique photographs surrounded by unspoilt nature. You will have the opportunity to admire animals in the wild such as horses, mouflons and the famous white donkeys of Asinara. Finally, there will be the chance to visit the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre (C.R.A.M.A.), and of course there will also be a pause to contemplate the crystal-clear waters of the island's beautiful coves, in the splendid Cala Sabina.
Program of the day:
- 9:00 am: Meeting at the Tanca Manna pier in Stintino
- 9:30 am: Embarkation on the Ausonia motorboat
- 9:50 am: Arrival on Asinara island at Fornelli dock (available a refreshment and bath)
- General explanation by the guide of the programme during the day
- The excursion continues to discover the Park, its natural treasures and the structures that still testify the ancient and recent history of the island. On board the minivan, you will pass near the Prison of Fornelli (not open because closed), Asinara castle called Castellaccio and Cala Sant'Andrea located in zone A (forbidden both by land and by sea, to safeguard its fragile ecosystem)
- Next stop on the narrowest point of the island, Cala di Sgombro, where you can admire the rocks, chosen place for the nesting of different species of waterfowl and marine
- Arrived in the central part of the island (Cala Reale), you make another stop at Campo Perdu, former prison branch, where today there is a riding school where you will have the opportunity to see horses (formerly used as the only means of transport on the island), and the famous white and grey donkeys
- Consistent with the state of health of the animals, there will be the opportunity to visit the Marine Turtle Recovery Center, managed by C.R.A.M.A.
- Stop at the small village of Cala d'Oliva, with a guided tour at the Branch Central and the museum (prison converted into an Environmental Education Centre, for schools and not)
- Last stop in the picturesque Cala Sabina for about an hour and a half, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, where you can relax, swim and snorkel. (Do not forget mask and snorkel!)
- Return to the Fornelli pier at around 16:15, to embark on the Ausonia motorship departing at 16:30. Expected arrival at the port of Stintino at around 17:00
