Fogo island, Cape Verde
Participate in this exhilarating adventure by embarking on an ascent to the summit of Cape Verde, the apex of the archipelagic structure and the second most elevated location within the Atlantic Ocean.
Upon arrival at your accommodation in Chá Das Caldeiras, we will commence with a brief introduction. During this session, I will provide an overview of the local terrain, including the surrounding areas of the volcano. Following the briefing, we will embark on a hike commencing at an elevation of 1700 meters above sea level.
Our journey will begin with an easy ascent through a lava field, which has been formed as a result of the last volcanic activity. This initial phase of our adventure will culminate in reaching an altitude of approximately 2000 meters, providing us with panoramic views of the area around the volcano.
Following this, we shall traverse a winding path through rocky terrains and layers of ash, leading towards the summit of the volcano at approximately 2300 meters. Here, we shall have the opportunity to witness a breathtaking vista encompassing the entire crater and its immediate surroundings. Upon arriving at the volcano's peak, we shall appreciate the remarkable beauty of the landscape.
As we descend from the summit, we shall encounter a challenging yet rewarding descent through thick layers of ashes. This segment of our journey promises to be both physically demanding and visually stimulating, offering unparalleled views of the surrounding villages nestled amidst the serene volcanic environment.
In conclusion, upon reaching our destination, we shall return to your accommodation. This experience promises to be an unforgettable exploration of one of Portugal's most captivating natural wonders.
