Maun Airport, Maun, Botswana
The Makgadikgadi Pans, the largest salt pans globally, cover an expansive area of approximately 16,000 square kilometers, presenting a mesmerizing landscape of pristine white expanse. Historically, these extensive wetlands were once the heart of a massive lake that dried up some 2,000 years ago, leaving behind a surreal tableau of shimmering expanses.
On Day 1, guests arrive at Maun Airport and are greeted by a safari guide bearing a signboard reading "Marvelous Mobile Safari." This guide transports them to their accommodation, which offers a bed-and-breakfast experience at one's own expense.
Upon check-in, guests are taken to their lodgings for the first night. On Day 2, they are picked up from their accommodations and proceed to Lekhubu Island aboard a safari vehicle. A packed lunch is served at Rakops Village. They set sail for Lekhubu, where their campsite awaits. Following this, they engage in a midday siesta, followed by a brief game drive in the afternoon to observe the island's landscapes and wildlife. Returning to their campsite, they indulge in a refreshing shower and dinner.
Day 3 commences with a rejuvenating bath, followed by breakfast. Guests embark on a journey towards Rakops Village in the central direction of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. This destination is notable for its unique tribes like the Bateti, Basarwa, Bakalaka, Bayei, and Basubia, known for their traditional dances. Upon arrival in Rakops, guests drive to Matsaudi Campsites for lunch. They then partake in high tea and commence a cultural tour in the village. Post the tour, they return to their campsite for dinner, during which they witness a lively performance featuring both the Basarwa and Bateti tribes.
Day 4 initiates with a shower and breakfast. The group proceeds to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, entering the reserve gates and embarking on a safari expedition throughout the day. They gather for lunch upon returning to their campsite. For lunch, they opt for high tea, concluding the day with another session of game viewing within the park. Their evening concludes with a luxurious meal prepared over an open flame.
On Day 5, guests undertake a swift shower and breakfast, subsequently engaging in a short game drive within Makgadikgadi Park. They exit the park via the northern gate and travel along the main road to Nata. Approximately thirty minutes into their journey, they reach Nxai Pan National Park. Here, they conduct a game drive, culminating in lunch. Later in the afternoon, they partake in high tea, resuming their game safari within Nxai Pan. This excursion allows them to appreciate the stunning natural scenery and diverse wildlife.
During their stay, they might encounter various species including elephants, impalas, zebras, and some of the more formidable predators. Throughout the game drives, they visit Baines Baobabs, named after renowned artist John Baines. These ancient trees thrive during the rainy season when numerous bird species congregate at the nearby lagoon, creating a picturesque display of beauty.
On Day 6, guests prepare to depart from the park. As they leave the reserve, they embark on a lengthy drive to Maun, continuing onward with further travel arrangements. At Maun Airport, they shake hands with their guides and say farewell.
