The 8-day Cordillera Huayhuash Trek offers a condensed yet comprehensive experience, departing from Huaraz via Cuartelhuain after approximately 4 hours' drive. The trek begins with a journey through high altitudes, crossing 8 distinct high passes ranging from 4,180 to 5,020 meters above sea level.

On Day 1, travelers start their ascent from Huaraz to Cuartelhuain (4,180 meters) and then continue to Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 meters). They reach Mitucocha (4,230 meters) on Day 2, followed by a challenging descent back to Huayhuash (4,350 meters) on Day 3. On the fourth day, they traverse the Siula Pass (4,800 meters), offering breathtaking views of Siula, Yerupaja Grande, and Yerupaja Chico, culminating in a visit to the picturesque Huayhuash Lagoon (4,140 meters).

On Day 5, the group heads northward toward the Santa Rosa Pass (5,070 meters), where they can enjoy panoramic vistas of the towering mountains and the iconic Laguna Jurao and Sarapococha. This day concludes with a descent down to Huayllapa (3,600 meters) on Day 6, marking the beginning of their final leg of the journey.

Day 7 brings them closer to their destination with the climb up to the Punta Yauche Pass (4,850 meters) and the stunning Jahuacocha Lagoon (4,100 meters). The next day, they tackle the challenging Gashpapampa Pass (4,570 meters), leaving the town of Huayllapa behind, before descending to Jahuapunta Pass (4,650 meters) and finally reaching Pocpa (3,500 meters) on Day 8, concluding their treacherous yet rewarding expedition.
