Cusco, Peru
Peruvians offer an immersive experience of their Amazonian lifestyle through skilled English-speaking guides, where visitors can observe a variety of bird species, exotic orchids, and agile monkeys within the mountainous regions and cloud forests.
On the inaugural expedition day of Manu Jungle Expeditions, participants depart from their accommodations in Cusco early in the morning and embark on a journey through the Peruvian highlands towards Manu National Park. During this journey, there is a scheduled stopover in Paucartambo for a guided exploration, followed by a scenic drive to a viewpoint situated at 3600 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the Amazon basin. Upon arrival in the park, visitors proceed to explore the lush cloud forests, encountering diverse flora and fauna such as orchids, ferns, Andean cock-of-the-rock birds, and various monkey species. The expedition concludes with a visit to Pilcopata and accommodation at Raim Fores Lodge, featuring meals and beverages served during the stay.
On the second day of the adventure, participants commence their journey with an Amazonian breakfast at their lodging establishment. Following this, they board a boat to travel to Soga de Oro Lodge in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. Throughout the day, guests engage in hiking activities along jungle trails, learning about local medicinal plants and potentially spotting large wildlife. A lunch break ensues at the lodge, providing ample opportunity for relaxation in the company of nature. Post-lunch, the group indulges in swimming sessions within the tranquil waters of the Madre de Dios River. In the evening, a bird-watching raft excursion offers enthusiasts the chance to observe numerous avian species. For those seeking additional excitement, an optional nighttime safari provides glimpses of caimans under the moonlight. All meals throughout the expedition are catered to accommodate every participant's dietary preferences.
On the concluding day, participants begin their journey with a boat ride to a Parrot Clay Lick site, where they have the opportunity to witness parrots and parakeets engaging in their daily feeding rituals. Following breakfast, the expedition concludes with a return trip to Cusco, ending the journey with a final meal and overnight accommodation in the city, complete with breakfast and lunch services.
