Discover Marsala wine, one of the most renowned Sicilian products on a wine tour. Delve into the history of this Sicilian tradition at the Florio Winery and try local wine with an aperitif.
Florio Winery, Marsala
The grapes used to produce Marsala grow along the coast of Western Sicily, and the wine's goodness is fueled by the humid, brackish temperature; suffice it to say that as you move away from the sea, the wine's personality also varies.
You'll begin your tour with a visit to the wineries overlooking the sea, and just by walking among the barrel cellars, you'll discover the history of Marsala wine and the winery that produces it.
You will discover how the strategic location of the cellars is able to influence the essence of the wine. The cellars are precisely characterized by the presence of the tuff floor, which allows the barrels to breathe in the smell of the sea. Inside the cellars are four different climatic environments and each of them has a different complicity with the sea, based also on their proximity to the latter.
At the end of the cellar visit, taste 2 glasses of Marsala and 1 glass of Vino Florio, accompanied by small food and wine pairings.
