Itinerary:
On the first day of our tour, we'll begin by picking you up from your hotel in Puno bright and early. From there, we'll head to the lake port to embark on our journey aboard a regular boat, starting with a visit to the fascinating Floating Islands of the Uros. Crafted entirely from reeds, these unique islands, numbering around 80, offer insight into the indigenous people's way of life. After interacting with the friendly locals and learning about their customs, we'll continue our adventure with a boat ride across Lake Titicaca to Amantani Island. As we sail through this vast lake, renowned as the world's highest navigable lake, reaching an altitude of 3,812 meters, you'll be captivated by its grandeur. Amantani Island, home to a welcoming community of approximately 800 families, boasts significant ceremonial sites and revered shamans who divine the future with coca leaves. Following a delicious lunch shared with locals to immerse ourselves in their lifestyle, we'll ascend to Pacha Tata (4,100 meters above sea level), where the most sacred ceremonial center of Lake Titicaca awaits, offering breathtaking sunset vistas. Experience an authentic dinner with the islanders, and if you're inclined, engage in traditional activities. Your overnight stay will be in a cozy family home, ensuring an intimate and memorable experience.
On the second day, following a traditional Andean breakfast, we'll set sail to Taquile Island, situated 28 miles from Amantani. With an elevation ranging from 3,950 to 4,050 meters above sea level, Taquile offers stunning vistas of the lake, framed by the Andes and a pristine blue sky. Amidst its picturesque landscapes, you'll encounter diverse flora, including the vibrant Cantuta flower and the healing Muña plant. The island is also home to various farm animals like cows, sheep, and chickens. Experience a captivating display of local culture with traditional dances, music, and a photo session in native attire during lunch. Taquile is renowned for its skilled artisans, particularly in textile artistry, showcasing ancient techniques and natural dyes derived from vegetables. Following this enriching experience, we'll sail back to Puno's lake port, where we'll drop you off at your hotel.
