Day 1: Departure from Cusco to Capuliyoc

After being picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 AM, proceed on a 4-hour journey to Capuliyoc, located at an elevation of 2,911 meters (9,550 feet). This initial leg of the expedition begins with a 6-hour walk toward the Aprumimac Canyon, predominantly downhill.

Upon arrival at Playa Rosalina (1,478 meters / 4,849 feet), we set up camp for the night.

Day 2: Exploration of Choquequirao

Waking up in your tent with freshly brewed coffee, enjoy breakfast before embarking on an 8-hour ascent to the Inca ruins of Choquequirao (3,057 meters / 10,029 feet). Our overnight location is approximately 20 minutes away from the citadel, offering breathtaking vistas.

Day 3: Exploring Choquequirao Ruins

After breakfast, commence a full-day exploration of Choquequirao, accompanied by your knowledgeable tour guide who guides you through its historical significance. Enjoy panoramic views as you navigate the ancient sites throughout the day.

Day 4: Journey Back to Cusco

Following a leisurely morning, embark on a 4-hour descent from Choquequirao to the Apurimac Canyon. Subsequently, hike an additional 2-hours uphill to our campsite in Chikiska (1,875 meters / 6,151 feet).

Day 5: Return to Cusco

On this concluding day, commence with a 4-hour climb to Capuliyoc Pass for a midday break. Following lunch, partake in a traditional Pachamanca barbecue prepared over hot stones. Post-lunch, bid farewell to your trekkers and return to Cusco. Your arrival is anticipated around 6 PM at your accommodation.

Includes
  • Upon request, airport transfers will be arranged in Cusco. A professional native tour guide will lead the itinerary, including trekking chef to prepare fresh meals. Professional porters, riders, horses, and sports bags with a capacity of up to seven kilograms will be utilized throughout the journey. Pick-up and drop-off services will be provided at your hotel.
  • All transportation costs incurred during the five-day tour will be covered by the client. Boiling water for drinking purposes will also be made available. Meals will be included as part of the tour experience. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated.
  • A comfortable tent equipped with dining facilities, tables, chairs, and foam mattresses will be used for accommodation. Two-person tents accommodating four individuals each will be available for use. Foam mattresses and hot water bottles will help maintain warmth. First-aid kits with an oxygen bottle and satellite phones will be supplied to assist in emergencies.
  • The entrance fee to the Choquequirao archaeological site will be paid for by the client. Taxes and booking fees associated with the trip will also be handled by the customer. Rental of sleeping bags, air mattresses, and trekking poles will be offered upon request.
  • On Day 5, dinner will be served after returning to Cusco. Tips may be given as a personal choice. Travel insurance is highly recommended to provide comprehensive coverage during the adventure.
