Day 1: Marangu Gate (1860m) to Mandara Hut (2700m)
Upon departure from Moshi, travelers commence their journey towards Marangu Gate, where they undergo formal procedures prior to embarking on the treks. The ascent begins amidst a lush, tropical rainforest, offering glimpses of vibrant flora and fauna as one ascends to the upper boundary of the forest line. Here, the trail reveals opportunities to observe blue monkeys, creating an enriching natural experience. As the path broadens, the scenery transitions into picturesque hillside vistas, culminating in the establishment of Mandara Hut.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Continuing through the dense forest, the trail eventually emerges onto high moorland, providing initial glimpses of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks – two prominent volcanic summits forming part of Kilimanjaro’s summit formation. Upon arrival at Horombo Hut, guests settle into their accommodation.

Day 3: Horombo Hut to Mawenzi Ridge

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Travelers proceed slowly uphill, crossing the lunar desert known as the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo. Their final destination is Kibo Hut, situated at the base of the Kibo Crater Wall. Here, they rest after a strenuous day, enjoying an early dinner preparatory to the summit ascent.

Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak

They traverse Gilman’s Point (18,600 ft) for breathtaking panoramas overlooking Mawenzi Peak. Upon reaching Uhuru Peak, guests take a moment to appreciate the expansive African plains and their achievement, subsequently descending back to Horombo Hut for their last meal atop the mountain.
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
The concluding day features a lengthy descent through the tropical rainforest, ultimately leading to the Marangu Gate Park Headquarters. From here, travelers gather their summit certificates and board a vehicle bound for their accommodation in Moshi.
