Marrakech, Morocco
An enchanting journey through the verdant valleys and historic villages of the Atlas Mountains awaits those seeking breathtaking mountain vistas and an immersive experience of the traditional Berber culture.
Day 1
Upon departing from Marrakech for the day, the group embarked upon a journey through the rugged landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. Following a scenic route that included Tahanaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni, they were treated to breathtaking views of various villages scattered along their path. Their first stop was Tizi Mzik Pass (2684 meters above sea level), where they enjoyed an unparalleled panoramic view of Imlil Valley and the majestic Toubkal Summit. After reaching Imlil, they met their guide and muleteer, who led them to the Tamsoult Waterfalls, located at a height of 2300 meters. Proceeding further, they navigated through the lush Azzaden Valley, traversing a dense juniper forest en route to reach Tizi Oussem Village. This quaint settlement offered them a chance to rest amidst traditional Berber architecture, while also providing access to local amenities. They spent the night at a guesthouse nestled within the heart of the village.
The next morning, after a leisurely breakfast, they set off from Tizi Oussem Village. The journey took them to Id Issa Village (1800 meters above sea level). From there, they ascended to the Tizi Oudid Mountain Pass (2000 meters), passing through the picturesque Matat Village. Upon arrival, they paused for a well-deserved lunch beneath the shade of walnut trees, followed by relaxation near the nearby river. The latter part of the day saw them make the return trip to Marrakech, covering approximately six hours of walking.
Day 2
After starting their day with a rejuvenating break in the idyllic colors of the valley and its charming Berber settlements, the group headed southward. Leaving behind Tizi Oussem Village, they made their way uphill toward Id Issa Village. Once they reached this destination, they continued their ascent to the Tizi Oudid Mountain Pass (2000 meters), crossing through the Matat Village and enjoying a refreshing repast under the shade of walnut groves. Following this, they proceeded to Agersioual, where they rested and relaxed near the river, appreciating the serene surroundings. By evening, they completed their journey and returned to Marrakech, completing another five-hour walk.
