Cairo, Archeological Day-Trip to Alexandria

Cairo, Egypt

Ramses tours

A comprehensive exploration awaits archaeology enthusiasts as we depart from Cairo, embarking on a captivating journey through the ancient sites, architectural marvels, and lush landscapes of Alexandria. This meticulously planned full-day guided tour promises an immersive experience that combines historical insights with stunning natural beauty.

After picking you up from your hotel, we will proceed to Alexandria. First, we will explore the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, a vast Roman cemetery located beneath the surface, featuring three levels carved into the rock. Following this, we will travel to the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria, home to submerged monuments that reveal the past of the city. Upon arrival, we shall photograph the iconic Pompy's Pillar. Your itinerary includes visiting the Library of Alexandria, the world's largest repository containing over eight million volumes. Here, you can admire statues like those of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy the First, discovered in the East Harbor area. Proceeding, we will visit the President Sadat Museum and Impression Museum. Afterward, we will reach the Church of Saint Mark, the oldest church in Africa, known for its architectural heritage blending Baroque styles with Italian and French influences.

Next, we will make our way to the Abbo Elabbas Mosque, one of the most beautiful and grand mosques in Alexandria. This historic structure offers a unique contrast with its quirky funfair-like atmosphere. Adjacent to this, there is a picturesque Corniche and old harbor where you can observe the remnants of Alexandria’s maritime history. As we continue, you'll pass by Quaitbay Castle, standing on the same site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, a testament to ancient engineering prowess.

Finally, we will end our tour at Montazah Palace Gardens, once the royal estate of King Farouk. These gardens provide serene views of the surrounding landscapes while offering access to the Queen's Royal Beaches.
