In five days, visitors have the opportunity to observe and explore various primate species, including chimpanzees.
Day 1
On Day 1, you will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and transported to the airport for your scheduled flight to Kigoma. Upon arrival in Kigoma, you will be transferred by boat to Gombe, located along the Gombe Stream. Upon reaching Gombe, you will be picked up based on the flight schedule and taken to the resthouse for a hot meal before beginning your chimpanzee tracking expedition in the surrounding forest. The highlight of this day includes observing chimpanzee families within their natural habitat, as well as admiring the diverse range of primate species found in Gombe Stream’s tropical rainforest, including Vai vets, colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, and various tropical birds. Your stay concludes with dinner at Tanapa Rest House, offering you an overnight stay in a tented environment.
Day 2
For Day 2, you will begin your journey early in the morning with breakfast served at 08:00 AM. Following breakfast, you will embark on chimpanzee trekking in the forest, starting at approximately 08:30 AM. Additionally, you will make a short trip to Kakombe Waterfall, one of the most notable attractions in the Gombe Stream National Park. If there is sufficient time, you may choose to ascend Jane’s Peak, providing a panoramic view of the park. For lunch and overnight accommodations, you will stay at Gombe Rest House.
Day 3
On Day 3, you will commence your adventure with breakfast at 08:00 AM. Afterward, you will engage in chimpanzee trekking across different valleys, followed by a walk through the forest. At 12:00 PM, you will return for lunch, during which you will also have the opportunity to witness stunning views of Lake Tanganyika. Following lunch, you will indulge in a sunset viewing and nature-walking activity along the shore of Lake Tanganyika.
Day 4
Day 4 begins with a hearty breakfast at 08:00 AM. Afterwards, you will travel via boat from the Gombe Main Gate to the Cultural Experience at MWAMGONGO Village. This experience offers insight into traditional activities and performances, allowing you to immerse yourself in the daily life of the community. For lunch and overnight accommodation, you will spend the night at Gombe Restaurant.
Day 5
On Day 5, you will conclude your journey with breakfast at 08:00 AM. Following breakfast, you will proceed to the airport for departure preparations, ensuring a smooth transition back to your original destination.
