If you're looking for a tour that includes local history and food, this is the experience for you! Visit the magical city of Cholula in the company of an archaeologist and a chef for a one-of-a-kind tour where you will learn all about the city's history and taste some its most traditional foods.
The tour starts right in front of the Cholula train station where the archaeologist will be waiting for you.
The first stop on the tour is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Remedies, which is the famous church built on top of the pyramid. You will visit the church, learn about its history, and enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Cholula, Puebla, and the volcanos.
Then you will visit Cholula's archaeological site and museum where you will learn all about the ancient indigenous settlement as you walk around the ruins of the Prehispanic ceremonial center.
From there you will walk to the Saint Gabriel Complex where you will meet up with the chef. You will enjoy a traditional beverage called pulque and a snack while you learn about the history of Cholula's market from Prehispanic times to the present. You will then visit Cholula's market, discover the variety of fresh seasonal ingredients, and observe local customs and practices. Finally, you will taste some of the most authentic flavors of Cholula, enjoying local recipes that have been made for generations. The food tour can be adapted for vegetarians and vegans.
