Explore the magnificent landmarks of Romania, including Bran Castle, Peles Castle, and Sighisoara, on this comprehensive tour.
On the inaugural day, participants shall embark upon a comprehensive city tour of Bucharest, a vibrant confluence of Eastern and Western influences. Following this excursion, they will proceed to the picturesque Transylvania region. During their journey through Transylvania, participants will make a significant detour during the summer months to explore the scenic route along the Transfagarasan Mountain Pass. Alternatively, they may choose to venture into Trasna Gherla during the autumn season.
The second day commences with a leisurely exploration of Sibiu, renowned as the European Capital of Culture in 2007. Subsequently, visitors will traverse to the charming village of Sibiel, celebrated for its authenticity and preservation of traditional rural life. A brief stroll through the village is followed by a shorter visit to Alba Iulia. This destination offers a glimpse into the rich history and cultural heritage of the area. The subsequent morning sees participants immersed in the enchanting surroundings of the Turda Salt Mine, a testament to Romania’s mineral wealth.
Day three unfolds with a detailed tour of the captivating city of Cluj-Napoca. Upon arrival, participants will transition towards the northernmost part of Romania, Maramures, which is characterized by its unique architectural charm reminiscent of an open-air museum. In the evening, participants enjoy a meal featuring traditional Romanian cuisine alongside a performance showcasing local folklore.
The fourth day commences with a visit to the ancient wooden churches nestled within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, namely Poienile Izei (Iza Meadows) and Barsana. Participants are then taken on a guided tour of Bierstan, the largest fortified church constructed by the Saxons during the sixteenth century. It is noteworthy that this historic structure has been declared a UNESCO Monument.
Following a visit to Bierstan, participants continue their journey to the medieval town of Sighisoara, the sole inhabited medieval fortress included in UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Their final destination for the night is Brasov, a city established by the Teutonic Knights situated at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. Overnight stays in Brasov provide ample opportunity for exploration and relaxation amidst the stunning natural beauty of the region.
Finally, the fifth and concluding day begins with a retrace of the initial days' activities in Bucharest. Participants will revisit the highlights from their earlier tours, culminating in a memorable experience at Bran Castle, where the legendary story of Dracula awaits discovery. This concludes the Classical Romania Tour, marking the culmination of an extraordinary journey through Romania's diverse landscapes and historical landmarks.
