First Stop: Viscri Village, Saschiz County

Viscri Village, once known as Giscriu, is a charming Saxon community nestled along the Brăşov–Sighisoara route. This picturesque village features one of the most splendid Saxon fortified churches, making it an important UNESCO World Heritage site. The Viscri Fortified Evangelical Church, constructed in the 1100s by the Székelys, stands out due to its unique name derived from "White Church" (Weisskirch). It has been transformed into a symbol of cultural preservation, showcasing the architectural splendor restored under the patronage of King Charles.

Next Destination: Sighisoara, the Medieval City

Aimed at preserving historical landmarks, the Mihai Eminescu Foundation, founded by King Charles himself, has undertaken renovations to restore several structures within the town. Notably, the Clock Tower, housing the History Museum, and the Monastery Church stand testament to this effort. Other notable sites include Vlad Dracula’s House, Stag House, Venetian House, Scara Scolarilor (a stairway built in 1654 for easier access to the nearby school during harsh winter months), and the Roman Catholic Church. Final Stop: Saschiz Tower

One of Transylvania's most stunning medieval dwellings, the Saschiz Tower exemplifies the 15th-century Saxon architecture. Standing at approximately 12 meters tall, it remains the focal point of Saschiz Commune. The structure retains remnants of its military fortification, including throw-holes and numerous skylights. This architectural gem serves as both a historical landmark and a reminder of the region's rich past.
