Join our expedition into the lush rainforests for an unforgettable adventure.
Program Details
The program offers four days and three nights of immersive exploration in the biodiverse heart of Peru. Arrival begins in Puerto Maldonado, the capital of Biodiversity.
Day 1:
Upon arrival, guests are met by staff at the airport or bus terminal for transfer to the Monte Amazonico Lodge office. Information regarding the tour details is then provided. A guided boat trip transports visitors to their accommodation along the Madre de Dios River. Following the welcome meeting with a local refreshment, each guest is assigned a room. For lunch, the group visits Monkey Island, situated upstream of the lodge across the Madre de Dios River.
Post-lunch, participants embark on a Caïman Search excursion, venturing onto the banks of the river. Expect to carry a flashlight due to the presence of these elusive creatures. There’s a chance to spot Capybaras, the world’s largest rodents weighing up to 60 kilograms. Upon returning to the lodge, dinner is served followed by a night stay at the establishment.
Day 2:
Starting with an early morning breakfast, guests undertake a short boat ride to the Sandoval Lake. At the checkpoint, a leisurely 3-kilometer walk leads them to the pristine Lake Sandoval within the Tambopata National Reserve. Here, they witness piranhas’ habitat, known for its diverse bird and monkey species including Hoatzins, Cormorants, and numerous others. The experienced guide will provide a rowboat for navigating the lake while appreciating various avian and primate species. They might also encounter Giant River Otters, which are critically endangered, measuring approximately two meters long and having been spotted alongside a massive alligator reaching over 4 meters in length.
For dinner, they enjoy a traditional meal. Post-dinner, a night walk allows them to observe a myriad of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and nocturnal wildlife. This concludes the day.
Day 3:
Rising early in the morning, guests engage in the Canopy Walk Way, ascending to approximately 30 meters above ground level via bridges that offer stunning views of the Madre de Dios River. Spectacular bird sightings await, ranging from toucans, macaws, and tanagers toorioes. The experience culminates with a thrilling zip-line adventure. An expert guide provides safety instructions before launching into the air, creating an unforgettable thrill.
Following the zip-line, a hearty breakfast awaits. Guests prepare for an adrenaline-packed tree-top adventure involving activities conducted at more than 30 meters high. Ziplines are equipped with lifelines supporting over three tons each, providing a breathtaking aerial experience.
Back to the lodge, they relish a second meal and settle down for the evening.
Day 4:
The program concludes with breakfast, leading to a transfer to the airport or bus station upon departure.
