Broome, Australia
Embark on a scenic journey from Broome to the Bungle Bungle region, where visitors can explore Cathedral Gorge under the guidance of a knowledgeable guide. Indulge in a delightful culinary experience with morning tea and lunch provided as part of this extraordinary outback adventure.
We depart Broome and track eastward through the enchanting turquoise waters of Roebuck Bay. We proceed over the mighty Fitzroy River, passing by the picturesque Fitzroy Crossing township, and venture further into the breathtaking Geikie Gorge.
Upon reaching Halls Creek in the East Kimberley, enjoy a delightful morning tea accompanied by refreshing refreshments. Subsequently, we commence our journey, flying in a scenic pattern around the Bungle Bungle Massif, admiring the magnificent domes that rise majestically above the landscape. As we soar across the Bungle Bungle Range, we uncover a hidden world of gorges and pools nestled between fan palms that cling precariously to the rock formations.
Our destination awaits us at the remote Bellburn airstrip, where our expert tour guide from Kingfisher Tours is eagerly awaiting our arrival. Embarking on a moderate 3-kilometer guided walk, we'll explore the iconic Southern Dome Walk in an air-conditioned 4WD vehicle. Along the way, we'll make unforgettable photo opportunities available.
The guided walk features a short but uneven loop that leads us deep into the heart of the beehive domes, allowing us to observe the distinct layers of sedimentary rock and the protective bands of iron oxide and cyanobacteria. Following a meandering creek bed, we ascend towards the iconic natural amphitheatre known as Cathedral Gorge, renowned for its exceptional acoustic properties and unparalleled beauty.
As we descend from the gorge, we encounter some steep steps and a ladder leading to narrow ledges, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. A light pack is provided, complete with beverages and lunch, which we will enjoy leisurely during our visit to Cathedral Gorge.
Returning to the airstrip after our exploration, we have ample time for refreshments. Our final leg of the journey takes us over the spectacular Wunaamin-Milliwundi Ranges, Devonian Reef Conservation Park, and Windjana Gorge en route back to Broome.
Morning tea and lunch are included in this engaging adventure.
