Perth - Kalbarri
Today marks the commencement of our journey through Perth's renowned wine-growing region, the Swan Valley. En route, we shall pause briefly at New Norcia, a remarkable Benedictine Monastery nestled within the heart of the province. Characterised by its serene ambiance and historical significance, this tranquil haven offers visitors a respite from the bustling city life.
Continuing northward, we traverse the coastal highway en route to Geraldton, one of the sunniest towns in Western Australia. Upon entering the Kalbarri National Park, traversing the scenic Murchison Gorge becomes a highlight of our journey. Throughout the day, we'll enjoy panoramic views of the rugged coastline and lush grazing lands.
As the sun sets, we reach the quaint village of Kalbarri, often referred to as the "laid-back village." Our arrival culminates in a memorable night under the stars, perfect for unwinding and enjoying the local nightlife.
Kalbarri - Monkey Mia
Starting our exploration in Kalbarri, we depart early for the iconic Murchison Gorge, offering spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. During peak seasons, the area is adorned with vibrant wildflowers, providing a stunning backdrop for our travels.
Arriving at Hamelin Pool, we encounter the world-renowned colony of Stromatolites, a natural wonder that has captivated marine biologists worldwide. After exploring the pool, we proceed to Monkey Mia, home to the renowned dolphins. Daily encounters with these majestic creatures make for unforgettable memories, ensuring that each visitor returns with cherished experiences.
Monkey Mia - Geraldton
Embarking on Day 3, we embark on a journey to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Shark Bay. Guided tours through the park offer insights into the unique flora and fauna, including the famed wildflowers that carpet the expansive landscapes.
Following our visit to the interpretative center in Denham, we continue our journey southwards towards Geraldton. Alongside the coastal road, typical Outback Australian attractions await, such as Mount Scott, which provides panoramic views of the town.
On our final leg of the trip, we pay homage to the historic World Natural Heritage Area with a visit to the Shell Beach. Following our tour, we return to Geraldton for dinner, where we delve into the thriving lobster industry, a global success story worth experiencing firsthand.
Geraldton - Perth
This morning, we conclude our journey with a visit to the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, a testament to the architectural prowess of early colonial settlers. From there, we travel south along the coast, passing through Jurien Bay and Leeman before reaching Cervantes.
At Cervantes, we visit the Lobster Shack, a culinary gem that showcases the diverse flavors of the region. Following our meal, we immerse ourselves in the bustling lobster industry, gaining valuable insights into the industry's growth and sustainability practices.
Returning to Perth, we transfer to our accommodation, marking the end of our journey.
