During this expedition from Puno to Lampa, we shall explore the historic Jesuit Temple of Santiago Apostles, along with its intriguing underground chambers adorned with skeletal remains.



We will depart from your hotel in Puno at 8:00 a.m., heading north towards Lampa for a two-hour drive. Upon arrival, we will proceed to the Jesuit Temple of Santiago Apostle, an architectural landmark that houses religious artifacts including a Virgin of Chiquinquira statue, a leather crucifix, a silver representation of the Immaculate Conception, and a Pietà replica. Following the temple's interior, we will traverse the atrium of the church, exploring the ancient catacombs adorned with meticulously arranged human remains.

Our journey continues as we venture into the historic district of Lampa, admiring its colonial architecture, particularly the Casona Frisancho. As we stroll along the cobblestone streets, we'll encounter the Municipal Hall, constructed in pink ashlar stone, and the Cal y Canto Bridge, a stunning example of regional engineering despite its recent collapse. This bridge represents a significant historical milestone, showcasing the challenges faced during its construction.

Following our exploration of Lampa, we will return to the city center and continue our route back to Puno. At approximately 3:00 p.m., we will arrive in Puno, ready to conclude our journey.
