Puno, Peru
Join us for a two-day excursion aboard a vessel, where we will explore the enchanting islands of Uros, Amantaní, and Taquile. Delve into the rich cultural heritage of these communities residing within Lake Titicaca's serene waters.
On Day 1, after pickup and a transfer to the main port, one boards a boat for a scenic journey to Uros Island. Here, fishermen and hunters reside on a floating community constructed from totora, an aquatic plant growing on the lake's surface. Visitors can learn the intricate process of weaving and layering totora to create the island's unique surface. An optional activity includes embarking on a traditional balsa de totora boat, crafted from the same reeds used in building the islands. Following this, the group heads to Amantani Island, where a host offers a warm welcome. The day concludes with a traditional meal prepared by the local inhabitants, featuring locally sourced ingredients. Afterward, visitors ascend to the summit of Amantani Island, located at 4,130 meters above sea level, to witness the breathtaking sunset over Lake Titicaca. The evening features dinner and accommodation within the island's hospitable confines.
The next morning, guests embark on a voyage to Taquile Island, renowned for its artisanal craftsmanship and exquisite textiles. Local residents proudly display their handiwork, including hats worn to indicate marital status or leadership roles. Exploring the island, tourists discover pre-Inca-era temples, tombs, and terraced fields, alongside insights into traditional farming practices and indigenous customs. For lunch, diners enjoy meals prepared by the local community. Returning to Puno, travelers are transported to their accommodation upon arrival.
