Sandoval Lake boasts an exceptional array of aquatic life, including diverse species of fish, providing visitors with an unforgettable experience within its lush, tropical surroundings. The lake's serene beauty is complemented by the presence of towering aguaje palm trees, creating a picturesque setting for exploration.
Day 1: Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, our representative will meet you at the port, boarding a boat to reach the Sandoval Lake. Upon arrival, we will commence a 1-hour and 30-minute walk through a lush tropical forest. During this exploration, we will encounter various monkey species alongside colorful macaw displays. Afterward, we will navigate a canoe towards our accommodation, settling into our lodge.
Following our initial rest period, we shall undertake our first canoeing activity, accompanied by stunning views of the surrounding landscape. As evening approaches, we shall witness an enchanting sunset over the lake.
In the afternoon, we will embark upon a quest to locate caiman species, with nature's symphony providing us with a serene backdrop. Following our expedition, we shall return to relish dinner and engage in relaxation.
Day 2: Our day begins early, typically around 4:30 or 5:00 AM. We will head to the palm clay lick, where we will observe a variety of multicolored parrots, including red macaws, blue macaws, and blue-headed parrots. Afterward, we will venture into ancient forests to view towering trees estimated at 300-450 years. Here, we will explore local medicinal plants used by indigenous communities. Returning to our lodge, we shall enjoy a hearty breakfast before proceeding to see giant otters.
Following breakfast, we shall visit ancient trees dating back centuries and learn about their traditional uses among native populations. Before concluding our journey, we shall embark on a leisurely boat ride back to Puerto Maldonado.
