Introduction:
Mount Merbabu is an inactive stratovolcano located on Java, Indonesia. Its name is derived from the Javanese words "Meru" (meaning mountain) and "awu/abu" (which signifies both "mountain" and "ashes"), thus translating approximately to "Mountain of Ash."
On Day 01, at 09:00 AM, guests will be picked up from their accommodation in Jogja to commence their journey towards Selo Boyolali Village. Located to the north of Mount Merapi, this picturesque village is situated amidst a valley bounded by Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu. The travel time from Jogja to Selo Village is estimated to take approximately 2 hours. Guests can expect to reach Selo Village around 11:00 AM for a well-deserved rest and lunch.
Following the initial preparations, guests will embark upon their climb starting at Post 4. This ascent will lead them to Mount Merbabu, a highly sought-after destination among Indonesian mountaineers. Situated in Central Java, Mount Merbabu stands at an elevation of 3,142 meters above sea level, offering a challenging yet rewarding climb with breathtaking vistas along the way.
On Day 02, guests will begin their trek early in the morning as they embark on a star-tracking expedition from Post 4 to the summit. Their journey will span approximately 2 hours, culminating in the stunning sight of Mount Merbabu's sunrise at 05:00 AM. Following the sunlit summit, guests will descend back to their campsite for a well-earned break and breakfast. They will then proceed to pack up and continue descending towards the base camp. By 14:00 PM, guests should arrive at the base camp where they will have ample opportunity to rest and enjoy a meal. The day concludes with a scheduled departure from the base camp at 16:00 AM, returning to Jogja.
