Agreed Time: Our friendly and experienced driver will pick you up from your hotel in Hoi An or Danang by private car for a 1-day tour of Hue City. The journey involves approximately 2.5 to 3.0 hours along a picturesque coastal route with stops at Hai Van Pass, Lang Co Beach, and Lap An Lagoon before reaching Hue City. Upon arrival, a local knowledgeable guide will greet you for a sightseeing tour.

The tour commences with a visit to the Imperial Citadel, which covers 21 meters thick and spans 10 kilometers. You will explore notable structures such as numerous ornate pagodas, nine holy cannons, flag tower, supreme harmony palace, nine dynastic urns, and dynastic temple. The construction of this complex took over two decades between 1804 and 1833, with much of its original structure destroyed by bombings during both the French and American wars. Some of the buildings remain under restoration. This opportunity allows visitors to gain insights into Vietnamese royal culture, focusing particularly on the lives of kings, their wives, concubines, and eunuchs.

Following the Imperial Citadel, we proceed to the Oldest and Most Notable Thien Mu Pagoda, a Buddhist temple situated atop a hill overlooking the Perfume River, constructed in 1601 by the first founder of the Nguyen Dynasty. Here, you can observe an ancient car and photograph of a Buddhist monk who self-immolated in 1963 to protest against the Ngo Dinh Diem government in South Vietnam regarding freedom of religion. After Thien Mu Pagoda, we embark upon a refreshing Dragon Boat Cruise on the Perfume River, returning to Hue City where our driver awaits to transport us to a local restaurant for lunch.

Our menu features the most renowned local dish, Hue Noodle Soup with Beef (Bún Bò Huế). Post-lunch, we continue our tour with a visit to one of the three finest royal tombs belonging to the Nguyen kings—Minh Mang Tomb (1840-1843), Tu Duc Tomb (1864-1867), and Khai Dinh Tomb (1920-1931). Each tomb offers unique insights into Vietnamese royal heritage and cultural significance. Minh Mang Tomb showcases living quarters for the king and queen, while Tu Duc Tomb represents a blend of oriental and european architectural styles, reflecting the king’s life alongside his family members until his passing.
