Volcanoes National Park and Coatepeque Lake

Los Volcanes National Park, located within El Salvador's borders, encompasses the majestic trio of volcanoes - Santa Ana, Izalco, and Cerro Verde - situated along the expansive Apaneca-Ilamatepec Mountain Range. This region, collectively known as the Los Volcanes Complex, serves as a sanctuary for some of the most significant geological events in Salvadoran history.

The itinerary begins with our departure from the hotel at 07:00 hours, followed by technical stops for restroom breaks and snack refreshments. We arrive at Cerro Verde at precisely 09:00 hours, standing at a breathtaking elevation of 2030 meters above sea level. Upon reaching this elevated location, two distinct activities await:

Firstly, a leisurely stroll through the lush surroundings offers panoramic views of the surrounding volcanoes, offering visitors the opportunity to explore trails and sample traditional Salvadoran cuisine.

Secondly, a challenging ascent up to Santa Ana volcano commences at an altitude of 2381 meters above sea level. The journey, covering approximately 8 kilometers, culminates at the summit, where the stunning vistas of the entire Los Volcanes Complex become visible, including Coatepeque Lake, the Pacific Ocean, and neighboring peaks.

Following lunch in the local area at 13:00 hours, we board our transportation vehicle at 14:00 hours, embarking on the return journey. During the trip, we pause briefly to admire Coatepeque Lake from a vantage point high above.

Upon arrival back at the hotel at approximately 16:00 hours, our day concludes.
