Osborne house, United Kingdom

English Heritage

The Osborne estate, located on the Isle of Wight, showcases the enduring legacy of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert through its ornate interiors and artifacts sourced from The Royal Collection. These spaces, designed for royal entertaining and governance, provide visitors with an intimate glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Victorian era.

Admire the opulent Royal Apartments and private family bedrooms nestled within the grand mansion. Witness the twin desks upon which Queen Victoria and Prince Albert once labored. Explore the magnificently adorned Durbar Room, where the furnishings and artifacts meticulously detail the entertainments enjoyed by the royals, ranging from state banquets to cherished family meals. Currently, only the lower floor of Osborne House is accessible for visitors to experience its rich history firsthand.

Step back through time to see where the royal children engaged in imaginative play and cultivated their own gardens beneath the Swiss Cottage. A room has been recreated exactly as it appeared on July 11, 1861, during a memorable afternoon tea served to both parents prior to Prince Albert's untimely demise.

Venture into the pleasure gardens, strolling among historic trees and enjoying the lush Victorian Walled Garden as it was enjoyed by the royal couple. Embark on a journey down to the secluded royal family beach, now restored with Victoria's original bathing machine.
