Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Located approximately two hours away from Tashkent amidst the western Tien Shan mountain range, this picturesque gem is affectionately referred to as both "Urungach" and "Jade Lake."
Jade Lake, situated approximately 160 kilometers from Tashkent, is accessible via a well-maintained route. Commencing from Tashkent, travelers proceed to Charvak, then traverse to Pskem, followed by Urungach en route to Tashkent. Upon reaching the destination, guests will be picked up from their accommodation for their journey ahead.
A scenic drive awaits, featuring several photo stops where clients may request additional photographs. After approximately 100 kilometers, the conventional highway transitions into a rough terrain path marked by a dirt road. Here, passengers will board Soviet-made Neva vehicles for a unique experience. Upon arrival at the designated area, one encounters two lakes within the Ugam-Chatkal National Park, each offering its own distinct charm.
Amongst these, the Big Jade Lake stands out with a picturesque beauty, distinguished by its emerald hue. Characterized by an ideal water purity, the lower lake retains its turquoise hue until late summer. This body of water undergoes purification processes thanks to the natural filtration system beneath its surface, resulting in crystal-clear waters that give off the appearance of jade.
In contrast, the smaller Lower Lake exhibits a more vibrant turquoise color but gradually fades away by mid-July. Its water quality remains pristine due to the constant influx of water from the upper lake, filtered through layers of sand and gravel.
The upper lake boasts a distinctive green hue, captivating visitors with its serene beauty. Spanning approximately 1.5 kilometers between the two lakes, this picturesque stretch offers a challenging yet rewarding hike. Following a steep ascent of around 200 meters, hikers reach the Big Jade Lake, home to a depth of about 11 meters. The lake's water temperature fluctuates gently, ranging from a comfortable 3°C to 8°C.
Upon completion of the tour, guests can indulge in a leisurely picnic along the shores of the lake. Enjoying the breathtaking views while savoring a meal prepared specifically for them ensures a memorable experience. Post-lunch, the group will embark upon another journey, boarding their Soviet-made Niva cars once again for the return trip. Once back on the main road, they will be met by their chauffeur who will assist in transferring them to Tashkent.
Finally, after arriving safely in Tashkent, guests will be dropped off at their prearranged location, marking the end of an exhilarating adventure.
