Killarney, Gap of Dunloe Walking and Boat Tour

Enjoy an unforgettable adventure across the breathtaking Lakes of Killarney and along the scenic Gap of Dunloe. Departure starts at 10:00 am, either from O'Connor's Traditional Pub (Eircode V93 DV26) or from your accommodation in the Killarney area. This exclusive tour offers two options: a walking route or a jaunting car experience.

Your journey commences with a bus ride to Kate Kearney's Cottage or Ross Castle*. Upon arrival, you'll embark on a self-guided hike through 7 miles (approximately 12 kilometers) of picturesque terrain. The challenging climb reaches up to 840 feet above sea level, offering stunning views of Purple Mountain, Dinish Island, Meeting of the Waters, Old Weir Bridge, Bricin Bridge, Innisfallen Island, and Macgillycuddy's Reeks. At the end of this captivating trek, you'll reach Lord Brandon's Cottage for a refreshing lunch and beverage (Lord Brandon's Only accepts cash payments).

Following your meal, board our traditional boat that navigates the serene waters of the Lakes of Killarney. As you cross the lakes, marvel at the enchanting landscapes, including Purple Mountain, Dinish Island, Meeting of the Waters, Old Weir Bridge, Bricin Bridge, Innisfallen Island, and Macgillycuddy's Reeks. Upon reaching Ross Castle, continue on to O'Connor's Traditional Pub or return to your accommodation.

Alternatively, if opting out of the walk, Jaunting cars are available at Kate Kearney's Cottage. Each cart costs €140 (with a minimum charge of €35 per passenger) and can accommodate up to four passengers. These vehicles traverse the 7-mile gap between the lakes within approximately 1.5 hours. Please bring cash when paying the driver.

To ensure a pleasant experience, pack light but sturdy footwear suitable for hiking and carry a waterproof jacket or sunscreen. Remember to dress appropriately for the changing weather conditions; sometimes tours may proceed in reverse due to low lake levels.
