The site, situated approximately 20 kilometers south of Lake Titicaca within the Bolivian territory, served as the capital of the Tiahuanaco civilization and boasts an impressive archaeological complex.
Starting at 7:30 am from the hotel located in La Paz, the tour commences with a journey via tourist transportation lasting approximately two hours to reach the town of Tiwanaku. Upon arrival, the initial stop will be the Lithic and Ceramic Museum, offering visitors an opportunity to explore archaeological artifacts belonging to the Tiwanaku civilization.
Following this, we proceed to the renowned archaeological site of Tiwanaku, encompassing several notable structures including the Kalasasaya Temple, the Sun Gate, the Semi-Subterranean Temple, the Pyramid Akapana, and the Pumapunku Complex. This exploration will take approximately two and a half hours, providing ample time to appreciate the rich cultural heritage preserved here.
