Manaslu Trek - 13 Days

Nepal, Nepal

Alpwander Adventures Pvt. Ltd.

Embark on an exhilarating expedition into the breathtaking Manaslu region within the Gorkha district of Nepal, nestled along its shared border with Tibet. This remarkable destination offers unparalleled opportunities for mountaineering enthusiasts seeking to conquer one of the world's eighth-highest peaks.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola (710m), approximately 8 hours. The journey commences with a smooth drive over sealed roads for the initial four hours, transitioning into a less ideal terrain characterized by unsealed roads and slight roughness towards the end as one heads toward Soti Khola.

Day 2: Trek from Soti Khola to Machhakhola (930m). Today’s route involves traversing dense forested areas alongside the Budhi Gandaki River. Following this, we proceed downstream onto a mountainous path, eventually reaching the riverbed and continuing uphill through the mountains.

Day 3: Machhakhola to Jagat (1,410m). After crossing the Machha River and navigating Khorlabesi, we reach Tatopani, renowned for its hot springs. As we ascend, we become increasingly aware of the transition in vegetation, culminating in our arrival at Jagat Village.

Day 4: Jagat to Deng (1,804m). Our path leads through valleys, with great vistas of Shringi Himal at the next village. Upon reaching Pewa Village, we continue upward through the valley until we arrive at Deng Village.

Day 5: Deng to Namrung (2,630m). This morning, we embark upon a strenuous ascent followed by a descent back to the Budi Gandaki River. As we approach Namrung, we notice Mani stones. Later, we make a brief detour to Prok Village and subsequently return to Namrung.

Day 6: Namrung to Samagaun (3,530m). From Lho, we can admire the snow-capped peak of Ngadi Chuli. For the remainder of the day, we undertake a short detour to Pungen Glacier, offering a close-up view of Mt. Manaslu.

Day 7: Exploration and Acclimatization Day at Samagaon. The primary objective of this day is to acclimate ourselves before embarking on the journey to higher altitudes. A full-day trek will lead us to Manaslu Base Camp (4750m).

Day 8: Samagaun to Samdo (3,860m). Today, we traverse across pasturelands. We encounter the remote Tibetan refugee village of Samdo, located near the Tibet-China border.

Day 9: Acclimatization Day at Samdo. This day serves as another opportunity for acclimatization, providing a tranquil experience within the quaint surroundings of Samdo. Alongside the trail, we engage in a delightful trek towards the border, lasting approximately ten hours.

Day 10: Samdo to Larke Phedi (Dharmasala) (4,460m). Today's task includes crossing several rivers en route to Larkya Bazaar. From there, we venture up a steep trail to Dharamsala.

Day 11: Dharmasala to Bimthang Via Larke La Pass (5,160m). On this challenging day, we follow the trail via the Larkya La Pass (5160m) to Bhimthang. Ascending to the steep snow-covered pass, we then descend a steep trail crossed by moraines, ultimately reaching Bhimthang Village.

Day 12: Bimthang to Tilije (1,700m). This morning, we follow the trail downhill. Now situated in the Annapurna Conservation Area, we find ourselves amidst breathtaking landscapes.

Day 13: Tilije to Dharapani and Back to Kathmandu (1,860m). This concludes our final day of trekking through the Manaslu region. We board a local jeep to Besisahar and then return to Kathmandu.
