Itinerary:
Our tour commences with a pick-up from your hotel, promptly boarding our vehicle that will take us via an alternative route towards the sacred valley. Upon arrival in the sacred valley, we proceed to Chinchero, an essential Inca city that the Spanish attempted to assimilate, yet was ultimately unsuccessful due to its inhabitants' steadfast adherence to their indigenous culture and traditions. Here, we delve into the rich textile tradition of Chinchero, visiting a Textile Center where we learn traditional methods of dyeing wool with natural dyes and creating garments using ancestral techniques such as loom weaving.
From Chinchero, we continue our journey to Moray, approximately 49.3 kilometers from Cusco, a unique archaeological complex comprising vast natural depressions or pits dug into the ground, designed to construct terraces or agricultural platforms with irrigation channels around them. One of the most intriguing aspects of Moray is the significant temperature difference observed between the upper and lower levels of these depressions, reaching up to 15°C within the 30-meter-deep pit.
Next, we visit Maras, renowned for its salt mines, often referred to as "salt mines." Comprising about 3,000 small wells averaging about 5 m² in size, these wells are periodically irrigated every three days with saline water sourced from a nearby natural spring at the summit, allowing the salt dissolved therein to gradually crystallize over time (approximately 50 minutes).
Following our exploration of Maras, we conclude our day with a return trip to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, we will find you conveniently situated near the main square, enabling you to enjoy a leisurely lunch at your preferred establishment.
This comprehensive itinerary promises a profound engagement with the historical and cultural richness of the Andean region, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between humans and nature as embodied by the Incas.

Exploring Maras' salt terraces offers a breathtaking experience of the natural beauty intertwined with human ingenuity. These terraces showcase the skill and resourcefulness of the Inca people who utilized salt deposits to create a sustainable agricultural system.
Moray stands out as an exceptional archaeological complex because of its design of concentric terraces constructed around artificial depressions. This layout facilitates controlled environmental conditions, particularly temperature regulation, which was crucial for agriculture during the Inca era.
The significant temperature difference observed in Moray is vital for maintaining optimal growing conditions for crops. By controlling the temperature, the Incas were able to maximize crop yields and adapt their agricultural practices according to the changing seasons.
