Full-Day Medoc Wine Tour

Château Margaux, Gironde, Bordeaux, France

Ophorus

Experience the renowned wine-growing region of Medoc through an engaging full-day tasting tour, where visitors can indulge in some of the finest red wines in the area. Commence your journey along the picturesque Chateau Road, which boasts over 1,500 vineyards, offering an unparalleled opportunity to explore this prestigious terroir.

From a central point in Bordeaux, embarking on this guided tour introduces participants to the enchanting Medoc wine-growing region of France. Your journey unfolds towards renowned appellations including Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac, and Saint-Estèphe.

Engaging in three meticulously chosen visits at classified growths or Cru Bourgeois properties ensures a profound understanding of these esteemed estates' rich histories and superior wines. During each visit, guests are invited to explore the vineyard settings, delve into the intricate wine-making processes, and discover innovative techniques employed by master winemakers.

Following the tours, a comprehensive wine tasting experience awaits, providing insights into the unique characteristics of the Medoc region's diverse grape varietals—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Carménère.

Covering approximately 5,700 hectares of designated vineyards annually, the Medoc produces an impressive output of 300,000 hectoliters of wine. This illustrious production includes over half (approximately 50%) of the region's vineyards dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by smaller quantities of other grapes like Petit Verdot and Malbec.

Post-tasting, visitors proceed along the castle road, immersing themselves in the grandeur of the surrounding châteaux. Amongst the region's most celebrated castles, notable sites include Château Margaux, Château Palmer, and Château Pichon Longueville.
