The tour begins at 5:00 PM outside The Oberoi Grand Hotel Entrance. Participants gather eagerly as they prepare for the captivating journey titled "Midtown Madness." The event introduces them to the pulsating streets of Kolkata, allowing them to taste iconic flavors and discover hidden gems throughout the narrative.
Participants embark on their culinary adventure at the heart of Kolkata's fashion and street shopping market. Their first stop is the famous chaat stalls, which offer a delightful array of dishes. They start with Phuchka, a crispy fried ball filled with mashed potato, salt, and spices—surely awakening their senses with its explosion of flavors. Following this, they enjoy Jhaal Muri, a light snack consisting of puffed rice mixed with onions, cucumbers, mustard sauce, chickpeas, and crunchy batter fries. Indulging further, they try Aloo Tikki Chaat, featuring grilled potato patties topped with chickpeas, tamarind sauce, and a hint of sweetness, crowned with crispy batter fries. Lastly, they conclude their chaat expedition with Dahi Phuchka, where the crispy fried balls are stuffed with creamy mashed potatoes, tangy yogurt, and a blend of tamarind and sweet sauces.
After the chaat excursion, participants proceed to the World Famous Calcutta Kathi Rolls. This follows with the visit to Bowbazar, Kolkata's largest retail marketplace, where they admire a 200-year-old Kali temple. Afterward, they continue to Kolkata's oldest sweet shop, which has been serving legendary Bengali treats for nearly two centuries, and finally, they reach College Street, stopping at a century-old café for a glass of their famous coconut drink, steeped in historical significance and stories of freedom fighters.
They then take a local bus to an eatery known for fritters for over a century, sampling their renowned Mango Fritters, bursting with the tangy sweetness of green mangoes and their secret ingredient. Subsequently, they head to an old-school bar offering Mutton Kosha, Bhetki (Asian bass), and draught beer (note: alcohol is not included). At the end of the night, they find themselves in a youthful atmosphere at this lively old school bar, enjoying a variety of drinks and traditional music.
The tour concludes with the reading of the story's outtro and leaves participants laughing and excited for more adventures.
