Corcovado National Park, Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Two exhilarating days spent immersed within an awe-inspiring rainforest environment.
The tour commences at 6:00 am at the main beach of Drake Bay. Subsequently, we embark upon a journey aboard a vessel bound for Sirena Station. During this initial phase, the hiking paths are characterized by their brevity, clear delineation, and smooth terrain. Our mission during this segment involves engaging with the group and endeavoring to observe an array of fauna, given that the Sirena area exhibits greater familiarity between animals and human presence, coupled with minimal predacious threats, thus facilitating easier sightings. The excursion concludes at approximately noon, after which we transfer via watercraft to the San Pedrillo Sector.
HERE, THE ADVENTURE COMMENCES! At this juncture, the hiking routes transform into more rugged terrains, enveloped within a verdant wilderness. Our itinerary now includes traversing towards the San Pedrillo Waterfall, where we shall partake in a leisurely luncheon. The focal point of this phase pertains to exploring one of the world's sole remaining primary rainforests, boasting ancient trees and enclaves that span over three millennia. Within these confines, wildlife becomes increasingly elusive, necessitating heightened vigilance to preserve their native behaviors. To enhance the sensory experience, we must engage each of our five senses to fully absorb the unique ambiance of this primeval sanctuary. After traveling a cumulative distance of sixteen kilometers and ensuring safe arrival at our retreat, we shall conclude the day with dinner and preparations for subsequent departure.
The following morning, we awaken amidst the cacophony of the jungle, followed by breakfast. Our expedition then commences, covering approximately ten kilometers through uncharted pathways devoid of human habitation. Along the way, we shall indulge in refreshing immersion in freshwater streams and marvel at a stunning cascade. Upon reaching midday, we shall rendezvous at the Los Planes sector, where we shall dine and await a 4x4 vehicle dispatched to escort us back to Drake Bay.
