Route of the Sillar | Quarries of Añashuaycos | Half day

This half-day excursion entails visiting the Añashuayco quarry and the carving process. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to explore the Quebrada de Culebrillas, an area renowned for its stunning petroglyphs.

The journey commences with the pickup from the hotel situated either near or within the historical district of Arequipa at 8:50 a.m.

Subsequently, our itinerary unfolds as follows:

Upon departure, we traverse along the Sillar Route, pausing briefly at a vantage point from which we may appreciate the twin volcanoes that encircle the city of Arequipa.

Continuing our exploration, we proceed onward to the Añashuayco Quarry, an archaeological site where we will witness the intricate processes involved in quarrying and sculpting the local stone.

After visiting the Añashuayco Quarry, we transition into the Quebrada de Culebrillas, an awe-inspiring water canyon known for its towering cliffs reaching heights exceeding 20 meters. We embark upon a leisurely stroll through this natural wonder for approximately 20 minutes, allowing ample opportunity to marvel at its majestic beauty.

Our final destination on the Ruta del Sillar will entail the discovery of ancient petroglyphs etched into the canyon's rock formations.

As we conclude our journey, we return to the heart of Arequipa by 1:00 p.m., marking the end of our excursion.
