Shore Excursion to Historic Kerikeri including Lunch

Makana Chocolate Cafe, Paihia, New Zealand

Mullarkeys Tours

Kerikeri is renowned for its rich historical legacy, offering visitors an immersive exploration of New Zealand's past. This guided tour features notable sites such as the Stone Store and Mission Station, followed by a delightful meal at the Plough & Feather pub. Afterward, guests can enjoy a taste of local craftsmanship with a visit to the Makana chocolate factory and marvel at the beauty of Rainbow Falls.

We undertake the task of picking up customers from the Waitangi Wharf and facilitating their return journey aboard the cruise ship. Our itinerary commences with an expedition to the awe-inspiring Rainbow Falls, featuring three captivating observation points atop the cascading waterfalls. These platforms provide exceptional photographic vistas, ensuring memorable moments for our guests.

Following the initial exploration, we proceed to the Makana Chocolate Factory, where visitors can indulge in freshly crafted artisanal chocolates while enjoying a leisurely stroll through the adjacent Kauri Workshop. This interactive experience allows patrons to explore various handmade items and souvenirs available.

Next, we traverse to the Kerikeri Mission Station, inaugurated in 1819. The site encompasses two notable structures: "The Stone Store," constructed in 1832 initially serving as a missionary society warehouse, now offering insights into colonial history; and the "Kemp House," a testament to New Zealand's rich cultural heritage, boasting its construction in 1821/22 by missionary carpenters and local Maori craftsmen.

Upon arrival at the mission station, we arrange for a special treat—dining at the historic Plough & Feather pub, where clients can enjoy a hearty meal paired with a selection of locally produced beverages (including wines and beers). This culinary experience is complemented by the availability of complimentary drinks throughout the tour duration.

Lastly, our tour concludes with a panoramic view overlooking the ship and the picturesque town of Russell. Customers may capture these serene landscapes during their final inspection of the vessel before embarking on their departure journey.
