Explore the natural and archaeological heritage of the coast of Lima with this tour to Bandurria and the wetlands of El Paraíso. These stunning landscapes will take your breath away!
Lima
We'll pick you up from your hotel at the designated time and take the Panamericana Norte highway towards the Paraíso wetlands, a protected area located on the coast of Lima.
After a three-hour drive, we'll arrive at the lagoons that form the wetlands, known as Paraíso Norte and Paraíso Sur. We'll explore this ecosystem and distinguish the different types of habitats it houses: the totoral, the granadal, the riverbank, and the littoral.
We'll keep our eyes open for the wide variety of birds that live and feed on its shores, including the little grebe, Franklin's gull, the black oystercatcher, and the Peruvian and royal terns.
After the visit to this natural area, we'll move on to the archaeological complex of Bandurria, which is 5000 years old!
We'll learn about the interesting history of the discovery of this site belonging to the Caral culture, in which water filtrations from the wetlands had something to do with it.
What's more, from the citadel, you'll have a beautiful view of the lagoon landscapes. Here we'll take a break for lunch - don't forget to bring your own picnic!
Finally, we'll return to Lima, where we'll arrive after a total of around 13 to 14 hours.
