The Belvedere in Vienna stands out globally as one of the foremost institutions dedicated to showcasing a vast array of artworks spanning the Middle Ages through contemporary times. Comprising the Upper and Lower Belvedere complexes and their expansive gardens, this magnificent ensemble exemplifies the pinnacle of Baroque architecture.

The history of the Belvedere dates back to the 18th century when Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned the renowned Baroque architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt to construct the complex. Following the death of Prince Eugene, Empress Maria Theresa acquired the entire structure and transformed the Upper Belvedere into a premier venue for imperial collections, establishing it as one of the earliest public museums in the world.

The Lower Belvedere, originally serving as Prince Eugene's residence, now houses prestigious exhibitions. The Baroque gardens surrounding both buildings are particularly noteworthy; the main garden spans three terraces and features a botanical garden and an ancient Alpine garden, setting new standards in horticultural design.

Upper Belvedere Renovation:
For the upcoming renovation project focusing on the facades of the Upper Belvedere, scaffolding will temporarily obstruct access to the entrance area. Scaffolding nets will be installed over these sections, mimicking the original appearance of the exterior façade. The works are anticipated to commence on April 8, 2024, with completion scheduled for Q4 2024.
