We provide an exceptional excursion featuring visits to the Areni Wine Factory, Noravank Monastery, the ancient Astronomical Observatory of Karahunj, and the majestic Shaki Waterfall. This journey is conducted aboard a modern Mercedes-Benz vehicle, ensuring both comfort and convenience for our esteemed guests.
- The commencement of the excursion takes place at 09:00, commencing at the designated location.
- The village of Areni, situated within the historical district of last Arpa, has long been recognized as the heartland of Armenia's wine industry. Situated in the Vayots Dzor region, in the valley of the Arpa River, visitors can explore two picturesque wineries, each offering an unparalleled experience of tasting the finest varieties of Armenian wines. Additionally, in October, a captivating Wine Festival attracts renowned wine producers from across the country, showcasing diverse productions.
- Noravank Monastery, dating back to the 13th century, stands out as one of the oldest and most celebrated monastic sites in Armenia. Perched on a hillside near Areni, this magnificent structure is surrounded by its distinctive red hills. In 1996, efforts were made to inscribe the monastery complex onto the UNESCO World Heritage List, reflecting its significant cultural importance. Moreover, several architectural elements within the complex were crafted by the renowned sculptor Momik, further enriching its heritage.
- Karahunge Observatory, an ancient astronomical site nestled at an elevation of 1800 meters in the Syunik region, near the town of Sisian, offers a fascinating glimpse into Armenia's rich past. Comprising 223 stones known as Zorats Karer, or "Stone Army," this archaeological marvel is believed to date back thousands of years, closely resembling the ancient structures found in England's iconic Stonehenge. For those interested in both history and nature, the area provides ample opportunities for leisurely strolls amidst stunning landscapes.
- The breathtaking Shaki Waterfall, situated in the Syunik region, is flanked by awe-inspiring mountain ranges. Its highest waterfall reaches a height of 20 meters, forming an integral component of the Vorotan River, one of Armenia's largest waterways. According to local lore, during a battle in ancient times, the enemy seized 100 noblewomen in Armenia and brought them to their leader as concubines. Among these captives was a striking beauty with azure eyes, known as Shake. Determined to escape the impending fate of a concubine, she leaped across the river and formed a dramatic waterfall to protect herself. Henceforth, the waterfall was named in her honor, hence its name 'Shaki.'.
