Departing from Flores at 12:00, we embark upon a journey lasting approximately one hour along a well-maintained paved road. Following this, we traverse another ten kilometers over rough terrain via unpaved roads (though not paved), leading us to the entrance of the Yaxha National Park Visitor Center. Here, we purchase entry tickets (at a cost of Q. 80.00, payable in Guatemalan currency). Upon arrival, we receive identification bracelets and complete forms detailing our visit to the park.
We proceed to the designated park area, where our seasoned guide awaits to take us on a guided exploration. Throughout the journey, we uncover the intricate architecture and cultural artifacts left behind by the Maya people. Our final destination is the Parque La Estructura 216 or Temple of the Red Hands, a stunning vantage point from which to witness the breathtaking sunset.
