River Gambia, Hippos and Chimpanzees

A planned expedition to explore chimpanzee habitats alongside hippos within the River Gambia ecosystem. Additionally, we shall conduct a tour of the ancient stone structures known as the Wassu Circles.

This tour offers an extensive exploration of rural Gambia, encompassing its rich cultural tapestry and the daily lives of inhabitants in less urbanized regions. Participants will embark on a journey that spans several hours, navigating through picturesque landscapes characterized by the traditional architecture found throughout the area.

The itinerary commences with a visit to the UNESCO-recognized Stone Circles at Wassu, a testament to the region's historical significance. Guided tours conducted by skilled local experts provide insights into the history and significance of these ancient structures.

Subsequently, visitors will venture onto the River Gambia via a boat ride, offering an opportunity to observe chimpanzee habitats and potentially encounter hippos in their natural environment. Upon reaching Georgetown, travelers will rest overnight within a designated camping facility. The next day, they will have the chance to explore significant landmarks such as the Freedom Tree, which holds historical importance during the era of African independence movements. Following this, there will be transportation arranged to return to the coastal destination, ensuring safe and efficient travel arrangements.
