Your tour leader will meet you at 7:50 AM at the ground floor of the Shinjuku Subaru Building, adjacent to the Shinjuku JR Station west exit. Departing from Shinjuku at 8:00 AM, you will proceed to Tochigi prefecture, where Nikko City is located. At approximately 10:30 AM, you will visit the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, who ruled Japan for over 250 years until 1868. This iconic shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers an opportunity to admire its intricate architecture and learn about the fascinating stories and legends associated with its structures.
Upon leaving the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, you will traverse the picturesque Iroha Slope, renowned for its 48 sharp bends and depicted in the anime series "Initial D." The road attracts visitors during the fall season due to its vibrant foliage. At 12:30 PM, you will reach the Kegon Waterfall, an impressive 100-meter-tall cascade that ranks among Japan’s top three stunning waterfalls alongside the Nachi Waterfall in Wakayama Prefecture and the Fukuroda Waterfall in Ibaraki Prefecture.
Following the waterfall, your group will split into two paths: one leading to Lake Chuzenji for a leisurely walk, while the other takes you to the Nikko Hot Springs. Upon concluding your tour, you will make your way to the Onihei Edo Service Area, characterized by its unique edo-style architecture and traditional handicrafts. This service center serves as a significant point of interest, offering insights into the historical significance of the area.
By 6:00 PM, your tour will conclude as you are dropped off at the Shinjuku Subaru Building, marking the end of your adventure.
