Highland Experience Tours

Discover the captivating landscapes and diverse wildlife of the Orkney Islands during our 5-day tour. Departing from Edinburgh, travelers will traverse the scenic Scottish Islands en route to experiencing the renowned historical landmarks of these enchanting islands.

A five-day itinerary commences with a journey from Edinburgh, where visitors embark on an exploration of the Scottish Highlands and the Orkney Islands. Starting from the heart of Scotland’s capital, the tour begins by traversing the scenic beauty of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park before descending into the haunting landscapes of Glen Coe. Following this, the route leads travelers through Fort William and the Great Glen towards the fabled shores of Loch Ness. Overnight accommodation is arranged in Inverness.

On the second day, the journey continues northward, taking visitors along the spectacular coastal vistas of the Moray and Cromarty Firths. A ferry service connects them to the mystical and enchanting Orkney Islands. Upon arrival, tourists immerse themselves in the breathtaking natural beauty and commence their explorations. Amongst the attractions are the iconic Italian Chapel, constructed by Italian prisoners of war, and the renowned Churchill Barriers—causeways designed to safeguard the British naval fleet from submarine threats. Guests restock at Kirkwall.

On the third day, visitors delve into the rich historical heritage of the islands. Located in Kirkwall, this charming town offers numerous craft and souvenir shops for exploration. The entire day is dedicated to uncovering the island’s storied past. Marvel at prehistoric marvels such as the Maeshowe chambered cairn, Skara Brae’s prehistoric village, and the enigmatic stone circles of Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar. The final stop is the stunning St Magnus Cathedral. After resting in Kirkwall, guests proceed to the fourth day.

This morning, a ferry departs from the islands, bringing them closer to the mainland. Upon reaching Inverness, they continue their journey to the capital of the Highland region. They stay overnight in Inverness for further exploration.

On the concluding day, the group returns to Edinburgh. During their return, they visit the battleground of Culloden, the site of the Jacobite defeat. Additionally, they traverse the awe-inspiring Cairngorm Mountains and explore the picturesque town of Pitlochry.
